The prime minister recalled his visit to the BAPS Mandir in Wellington and expressed his best wishes for the new mandir’s construction.
On the occasion of BAPS leader Mahant Swami Maharaj’s 90th birth anniversary, New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins paid a visit to the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) in Auckland. The Prime Minister was joined by Labour Party MPs Dr Anae Neru Leavasa and Vanushi Walters, as well as Labour Party candidate Kharag Singh, according to a BAPS release.
The Prime Minister thanked Mahant Swami Maharaj, the volunteers at the mandir, and the attendees in his remarks to the audience. He recalled his visit to the BAPS Mandir in Wellington and expressed his best wishes for the new mandir’s construction.
“BAPS plays an incredibly important role in bringing people together and fostering a strong Hindu community,” he said of BAPS’s work. You provide values-based spiritual education and create a platform for people to preserve and promote their cultural and spiritual values. I want to commend you for all of the work that you do in our community.”
The occasion honored Mahant Swami Maharaj’s saintly virtues and services. According to the release, the importance of having a guru who guides devotees from material darkness to spiritual enlightenment was also emphasized
